Get More Twitter Followers in Two Easy Steps
Before you jump into this process, I want to make a few things clear.
1) You do not "need" to pay $$ to increase your followers on any social media sites like Twitter. The method I'm going to show costs nothing. Many people decide to pay for various services - those services are not the focus of this article. I'm all about free! I did NOT pay one cent to get followers.
2) Good news - You will get a lot of followers using this technique, yet you will have to follow a lot of people. I use my business twitter account for my Etsy shop, but these steps are not for everyone, especially if you use a personal account.
3) However, these ideas can be scaled back or adapted to suit your needs and your unique business SEO goals.
4) It is highly recommended that you check out a person's twitter feed before mindlessly following. As with all social media, use common sense when following or inviting others to follow you. Now on to step one. Continue Reading
After you register, you need to get "seeds". These seeds are how others will follow your twitter. To get these seeds, you must follow others. Before you get too far, make sure to add your "interests" to your account. For example, I sell vintage clothing and decor, so I assigned my account "vintage" and "vintagefashion."
Next, there will be a long list of various twitter accounts you can follow by simply clicking within the framework of the website. It's just a click click click . . . follow people, get seeds.
After you accumulate "seeds", others will automatically start following you. It's that easy. You follow others to get seeds, you gain seeds, others follow you.
I have my account set to allow people who do not "unfollow" often. This keeps people from trying to use me and then drop me. I want followers who will stick around.
Also, you can decided how may seeds you will give to each person. The average is 2-3 seeds. So, if I had accumulated 10 seeds, and I gave away 2 seeds per follow, then I can expect to gain 5 followers. But, if I give away 3 seeds (which people are more likely to click on), then I will gain 3 followers with one seed left over.
From the math above, you can see that, sometimes, I have to follow a lot more people than I will get to follow me depending on the seed give/take ratio. This reason is why I explained at the top of the page that this plan is not for everyone and should be adjusted for your needs and to your specific market and interests.
But, let's take a look at that picture from my Etsy shop one more time.
Twiends does allow you to buy seeds. This is where $$ comes into the picture. But spending money is optional. I got followers for free by following others to get seeds. Do what works for best for you.
While I was writing this article, I followed a few people using Twiends and got some seeds because I wanted to tip my number over 600, and in one hour, I gained over 20 followers, easily meeting my goal.
How do you get more followers? You follow people.
Yes . . . that's it. I'm sure you've heard the saying in business that you need to find where your target audience hangs out? They hang out at Twitter! I'll use my Etsy to illustrate, and you can adapt this strategy for your business.
So, I have a shop on Etsy. Where would I find people interested in Etsy? How about their twitter account? I know, this all sounds obvious, but stay with me.
Here is a screen shot of Etsy's Twitter account.
Will this technique get you followers? Maybe. Maybe not. It has worked for me, and I believe it will work for you. But, Etsy is a place of cooperation and friendly people, so those are the type of people who frequent their twitter account. Again, you will have to follow a lot of people to get people to follow you back.
To expand the above idea, you can also search key words in twitter like "vintage" or "collectors" and find people who share those interests and follow them or follow their followers.
In the end . . .
Remember, you might get 50 followers in one day, and then wake up the next day to find you have only 30. This disappearance of followers happens. People will try to use you. They follow you to get you to follow back, then they drop you. Don't let that get you down. You have have 30 new followers. Go get more.
How many followers do I have now? Is it still over 600? Take a trip over to my Etsy shop here and have a look for yourself.
